  1. Prongs - Well...if you read Hunger Games, then The Girl on Fire and Mocking Jay will quickly follow. While lightening fast reads, they are quite brilliant. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo's protagonist will keep you turning the pages.
Padfoot - Good on you for selecting The Stand. It is my all time favorite King. I've tried The Book Thief on several occasions, but can't make it past the first few pages. This is a rarity for me, and I'm not sure why I have "reader's block" with this one.
I'm currently trying to get through Room by Emma Donoghue. The jury is still out on it.
    Cheers!

  2. I'm about 350 pages into The Stand right now. I'm surprised that I've read through that many pages and it's still developing characters. But, I still really like it, and am looking forward to the rest of the book, I've only ever heard amazing things about it!!

  4. Not one person that I've talked to has said anything less than they've loved it, I'm excited to keep on reading! I'm 400 pages into the uncut version and I love it so far!

  5. I really loved The Book Thief, it was very sad but brilliantly written. Hmm, think I might read it again. Enjoy.

  6. I'm glad to see someone else planning to cram their winter holidays with reading! Will tweet you my pile later today, I'm still figuring out what will make the cut.

Looks like I might finally read Nabokov's 'Ada or Ardor'.

  7. I read East of Eden a couple of months ago and LOVED it! The Graveyard Book is fun. The Book Thief was incredible. Good picks. I'll have to take a picture of my pile and post it on my blog in the next day or so.

  8. I would have such a hard time taking a picture as I have no idea what I'll be reading!! I'm in such a slump right now...

  9. @Sady - I am going to start that tonight! The last 2 books I have read were much more plot/action driven with not much focus on the the actual imagery/word play, so I am really excited to start something that makes me drag out the post it tabs!

@Nirina - Yess def post a pic on twitter so we can retweet it!! I started his Pale Fire awhile ago and was loving it but hit a wall about half way through and couldn't finish. The footnotes/style was killing me. Ill have to give it another try.

@Kristi - Isn't East of Eden AMAZING!?? I can't wait for Padfoot to read it so we can swoon over his insane prose. That is on my top of the too read list.

@Amanda - Have you tried East of Eden haha?? One of my top 10s easily. We totally understand though. We have hit quite a few book slumps over the years (usually when we are in school and can't read for fun). For me, re-reading an old favorite sometimes helps to get me through it, so maybe revisit some books you loved in the past? Re-read Harry Potter if you haven't recently?! Hope your slump ends soon :(

  11. I've wanted to read The Book Thief for a while, but I've not had time. Perhaps over winter break... Gotta love having a month off.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (and the books that follow it) are absolutely incredible. I read the last book in the Millennium trilogy, off and on, in about 3 days. Enjoy!

  12. @Prongs: "Everything is Illuminated" was the first book to make me cry (ok, maybe second after Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). It is also funny, introspective and beautiful. So that's where my vote lies! :)

  13. @Cary - Nice! Maybe we will read it around the same time and can compare notes. Just finished Dragon tattoo and immediately ordered Girl who Played with Fire! I can't wait to write a review!! Loved it!

@Gabby - Oh lord I am kind of in need of a book like that. I have loved the last 2 books I've read but they have been much more 'plot/action' driven. I'm ready to see some 'introspective beautiful words'. Can't wait!!!

And who hasn't cried over HP -_-
